Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to pay off a commercial solar system?
The payback period is typically 3-4 years. Factors like the size of the roof and quality of solar panels will impact the cost. More efficient panels will generate more energy, increasing electricity savings long-term. There are various tax incentives and depreciation factors that help to decrease the cost of the system.
How will switching to solar power benefit my business?
Depending on space, we could install a system large enough to completely eliminate your electric bill. If you generate more energy than you use, you can sell the excess to the electric company for a small profit. Your company’s marketing department will also use the sustainable business practices to its advantage.
What incentives and rebates are available?
Owning your own solar system has many benefits. Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs) are provided with your solar system, which can be sold to offset the upfront installation costs. Under current federal law, your business can claim 30% of the system’s cost as a tax deduction. We will do all of the paperwork for you to ensure you receive the credit. Also you can depreciate the cost of the system over 6 years, reducing the financial burden.
What's involved in the entire process?
First we perform a series of surveys and analyses. These include structural, cost-benefit, and savings. Then we file paperwork with the state, get permits, and sign a connection agreement with the electric utility to purchase excess power from your system. If you need a new roof, we start by installing that first. Then we install your solar system and connect you to the grid. Your system will be up and running and you’ll start saving money instantly.
How long will my solar system last?
Modern solar systems will last upwards of 25 years. Typically you will upgrade your system when you replace your roof for maximum savings.
Will I need to modify my business to run on solar power?
Not typically. We just connect your system to existing infrastructure.
What is the warranty on your installation?
NESEACO warranties the labor on our installations for five years. We do recommend signing an operations and maintenance contract with us to maintain system integrity and performance. The warranty on the equipment varies by manufacturer.
Will solar increase my property taxes?
No, however it will increase your property value.
Does it matter what type of roof I have?
We can install solar systems on any type of roof.
